Health Team and Framework
The health and wellness team's role, partly funded by the Sequoia HealthCare District’s Healthy Schools Initiative, is to address our students' and staff's social, emotional, and physical health. Positions include a wellness coordinator, food service specialist, nurses, counselors, psychologists, and behaviorists, as well as the Physical Education departments and partner agencies like Adolescent Counseling Services (ACS). Together, they are driven by the Coordinated School Health and Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child models, which emphasize the importance of integrating health across all aspects of learning - of acquiring knowledge, practicing skills, and changing behaviors at school, home, and in the community.

immunization information
All students enrolling in the Las Lomitas Elementary School District (LLESD) must satisfy California State Immunization Requirements before enrollment.
Students enrolling in LLESD from outside of the United States are also subject to the immunization requirements of the State of California and will need proper documentation of your child's immunization with English translation as necessary to verify the records.
Please note: Your child will not receive class placement until all state-required immunizations have been met.
Please see the Shots for School website for a guide to the requirements. For additional questions about the requirements, please call Las Lomitas School at (650) 854-5900 or La Entrada School at (650) 854-3962.
Data Collection

Data Collection
To help understand our students' social, emotional, mental, and physical health needs and examine trends over time, two primary health-related surveys are administered to students at La Entrada and Las Lomitas.
California Healthy Kids Survey
The California Healthy Kids survey is administered to students in grades 5 and 7 bi-annually in the fall. Questions include topics such as sleep hygiene, bullying, substance use, and physical activity. Responses are anonymous and confidential yet provide critical insight into school climate, student perceptions and beliefs, and student behavior. Aggregate data is provided to the school district in the spring, and results inform classroom lessons and program planning.
Panorama Survey
The Panorama survey is administered annually to students in grades 3-8 and to teachers of students in grades K-2. Questions address student belonging, social-emotional indicators, and school climate. Results inform classroom lessons and school- or district-wide program planning.

Automated External Defibrilator (AED)
Automated External Defibrillators (AED) are life-saving devices intended to be used by a lay-person in the event of a cardiac episode, in addition to calling 911. Once opened, devices provide step-by-step audio instructions, but it is important to familiarize oneself with the function of the device ahead of an emergency. Review the Red Cross’ 7 step-by-step instructions and training video (5 min). Funded by the Sequoia Healthcare District, LLESD is part of the ViaHeart Program which provides AED devices in multiple locations at Las Lomitas, La Entrada, and the District Office. See device locations here.
Per AB 2690, see below for Notice of Parental Rights and Responsibilities Regarding Synthetic Drugs
Opioid overdoses can impact youth and adult populations, and the synthetic opioid fentanyl can be especially potent and harmful. To learn more about opioid overdose including fentanyl see the California Department of Public Health and the San Mateo County Naloxone for Schools Program and Toolkit.
LLESD is prepared to address an opioid incident should it occur on campus.
Naloxone, commonly known as Narcan, is a lifesaving medication used to reverse the potentially deadly effects of an opioid overdose. LLESD participates in California’s Naloxone Distribution Project, through which it receives a supply of Naloxone as well as training resources that all staff review annually (though not required to administer) at no cost. Naloxone is located at both school sites in the nursing office and the main office emergency preparedness bag, as well as the District Office and the Operations building.
Also note, the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) is administered biannually to students in grades 5 and 7 and includes questions about student health behaviors including substance use. The LLESD school sites and district office review survey results which is used to inform education and programming.
