Welcome back to school!

 
 

Supply Lists

Here is a list of materials that you will need to bring to class every day:

1. Two four-color pens for homework, class work, and tests/quizzes

2. Three #2 pencils (with good erasers)

3. Two highlighters (color of your choice)

4. Binder or expandable file, to be divided into four sections: Language Mechanics, Literature, Social Studies, and Miscellaneous.  Be sure to keep this stocked with plenty of loose-leaf paper!

5. One separate 3-section notebook for active reading notes, social studies notes, journal entries, etc.

6. Dry-erase markers and rag or old sock for white boards

7. Colored pencils, crayons, or markers

Plus, keep at home for occasional use:

8. Two 3x5 100-count packs of index cards

 

Also, you should always have a book of your own in class for independent reading.

 
     
 

Top Seven for Seventh Graders

1. Proper Heading on papers

  • For EVERY class you will head your paper in this manner:
    • Upper right hand corner, text right aligned.
      • First and last name
      • Date (written month/day/year- for example 8/26/05
      • The period number of your class (if Science, P.E. or Math); OR the Core class you are in (odd or even)
    • Left Side of paper
      • Assignment Title (will be given by teacher)

2. Absent Work

  • EVERY class will have an “ABSENT CENTER” located somewhere in the room.
    • After you have been absent, go to the ABSENT CENTER and follow the written directions (NOTE: these will probably be different for each class)
    • Visit the ABSENT CENTER outside of class time—this way you will not miss current class information
    • Make-up time:

You will only have up to ONE week to make up late class or homework 

3. Seven Learning Materials to have on hand at ALL times (in addition to anything specific for a certain class)

    • 1 three-ring binder with sections for each class
    • An ample and continuous supply of binder paper
    • 2 four-colored pens (blue, black, red and green ink in one pen)
    • 3 #2 pencils
    • 1 highlighter
    • Student planner
    • 1 scientific calculator

4. Binder Organization

    • every student will have their binder in each class every day
    • all students will be organized
    • all papers will be in the rings of the binder and in the appropriate class section

5. Homework Planner

    • All students will use the school homework planner assigned to them every night for every class (EVEN if your teacher gives a weekly agenda)
    • If you have no homework in a class that night your planner should read “None.”

6. Take Pride in Your Work

    • Handwriting should be neat and legible!
    • Type it up if possible (may differ according to teacher)
    • All papers will be in good condition (no wrinkles, cross-outs or rips)
    • Always strive to do more than the bare minimum; Be impressive!

7. Take Ownership of Your Education

    • You are responsible for addressing an issue with your teacher and doing so outside of class time.
    • See your teacher’s sign up sheet in the classroom for a meeting either before or after school, or an otherwise mutually agreeable time.
    • Advocate for yourself with your teacher directly.
    • Be an active participant in every class.  Be an active learner and look like it!

As a reward for following the Top Seven Tips, students will earn points towards a participation grade in each class.
